The Public Actor: Presentation of Self in Everyday Life
In this intensive workshop, we probe the idea that the way a person presents herself in everyday life can be looked at as a performance of the public actor.

The public actor treats her presentation of self as a choice–not a fate–made in order to show particular intentions, with consequences both social and political.
What skills are required so that the public actor can create a repertory of individual/collective ‘performances’ aimed at disrupting common sense social hierarchies?
Choices in language, dress, make-up, gesture, vocal inflection, formulation, physical gait, gestural gait, duration, stress, repetition, group dynamics, group mood—all these we’ll play with in the workshop as part of the creation of the repertory of the public actor.
